New Civil Family Law comes into force in the UAE

On 1 February 2023 new legislation in the UAE came into effect allowing non-Muslim expats to marry and divorce. The new law also covers other aspects of family law such as child custody, inheritance and wills. Before these changes, each Emirate had its own Personal Status Law…
